The work depicts a marble inscription from a tomb inscription for a husband and wife that the eruption of Mount Vesuvius broke apart in Pompeii.The pieces, with each name separated, were unearthed in 1813 and sent to different museums, but were finally reunited in 2011, nearly two-thousand years after the eruption.
